LL.M. General Law Studies
Coastal Law is proud to introduce to its suite of Online Graduate Legal Education Programs the LL.M. in General Law Studies. Attorneys with a law degree from anywhere in the world (including the U.S. and Puerto Rico) will get a comprehensive overview of U.S. Law and the U.S. legal system, and also be academically eligible to sit for the Washington and California State bar exam. In addition, students in the Program work closely with the LL.M. administrative team to customize their course selection and sequencing. Students will complete 13 credits of required courses and 13 credits of electives. Through the electives coursework, students will have the opportunity to "specialize" in one of several concentrations such as International Law, Logistics & Transportation, Business and Transactional Practice, and U.S.Law Practice.
Opportunities Made Possible through the Online LL.M. Program:
- Improve your legal skills without leaving your professional and personal communities.
- Enhance your academic credentials and stand out to prospective legal employers.
- Expand your professional networking base through contact with classmates, professors, and guest speakers.
- Become a pivotal resource in your Organization, providing guidance and creating solutions in area of LL.M. specialization.
- Enhance your ability to meet the academic qualifications required to take a U.S. bar exam.*
- Earn your degree in as little as one year, on a schedule that works best for you.
*Every state has different requirements for its bar exam. Students interested in taking a U.S. bar exam should consult that state’s rules.
Attorneys (including U.S. and international) can complete the 26-credit LL.M. program entirely online and at their own pace. Students can select their courses and credits per term, and they can tailor the program to their individual needs and career goals. Students can complete the program in as little as one year or up to two years.
All required courses and a broad variety of electives are offered in an asynchronous online format, including pre-recorded lectures (available in downloadable and mobile-friendly formats), free online reading materials, practice quizzes, writing exercises, and discussion boards that “bring to life” the legal topics covered in the lectures.
Recognizing the importance of live interaction in the online classroom, our professors hold live review sessions each semester in each class. Finally, our LL.M. Administrative team also holds live, interactive online events with LL.M. professors and guest speakers at least once per month. These live events are all optional for students, and provide a great way for students to interact with their professors, classmates, and members of the Florida Coastal School of Law community.
